February 20, 2010
Dear :
South West Presbytery’s Community Ministries Sunday will be held on April 18th this year. We are asking congregations to share with us in this event by highlighting and praying for the important work of Jane-Finch and Davenport Perth Community Ministries. We are hoping that Community Ministry Sunday will make our work more visible to congregational members, and encourage people to pray for us and/or become partners in our ministry. We are asking you to have a special offering to help support these ministries. If Sunday April 18th, does not work for your congregation, we invite you to choose another Sunday for this purpose.
To support your celebrating Community Ministries Sunday, we are providing:
- bulletin insert describing each community ministry
- worship resource package with a service provided
- special offering envelopes (cheques should be made payable to the local congregation so that offerings can be credited appropriately)
For Treasurers: Please send contributions (cheques payable to Toronto Conference and clearly indicate in the memo line “Community Ministry Sunday”) to:
South West Presbytery Office

The offerings will be distributed equally between the two ministries.
Given the cuts to Mission and Service Grants and with South West Presbytery resources shrinking, our funding needs are ever more pressing. Our funding goal from congregational givings for 2010 is $17,400.00 and we believe this is an achievable target if we work together to promote the important work of these ministries in our presbytery. If each contributing household in the Presbytery contributes just $4.00 (2 Toonies!) we will realize our targeted goal! Of course, we’d love to exceed it.
If you need further information or want to arrange a speaking engagement, please do not hesitate to have a conversation with either of the community ministers, Barry Rieder (416-747-5616, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or Karen Williams (416-657-1558, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). With best wishes and our deep thanks for your on-going support.
Yours in faith,
Community Ministry Commission
